The Branch: (1) supports strategic planning for CSAT's immediate and long-range co-occurring and homeless initiatives; (2) develops, implements, and manages existing and new co-occurring disorders and homeless programs, projects and initiatives within CSAT and cross-Centers/agency initiatives; (3) develops and provides oversight to the development and dissemination of treatment protocols related to co-occurring disorders, as well as for homeless programs, to ensure appropriate and relevant, practical training/cross-training and education for providers and their clinical staff, and the field in general; (4) identifies technical assistance needs of grantees, other services providers and treatment systems related to the treatment of co-occurring disorders and programs for the homeless; (5) provides liaison within SAMHSA and collaborates with other Federal, State, and local agencies on activities related to co-occurring disorders and homeless issues; and (6) collaborates with other parts of CSAT to implement programs on adoption of evidence-based practices for co-occurring disorders and provision of services for the homeless. This collaboration would include, for example, the Division of Pharmacologic Therapies for the provision of methadone; the Division of Services Improvement regarding effective treatment models, systems of care, and financing concerns; and the Office of Evaluation and Training's Workforce and Training Branch.
