What are our vision and our mission?
Vision:
Effective systems of care for persons experiencing co-occurring disorders and persons who are homeless.
Mission:
Promoting a public health approach to systems of care fore persons with co-occurring disorders and persons who are homeless. CHAB accomplishes its mission by:
- Taking a leadership role in influencing policy and programming in the fields of homelessness and co-occurring disorders;
- Increasing SAMHSA’s use of data to inform policy, practice, and models of services around co-occurring disorders and homelessness;
- Leading the field through knowledge development and dissemination activities;
- Building capacity and sustainability of CHAB/SAMHSA grantees;
- Improving CHAB’s infrastructure and capacity.
What programs are in our current portfolio?
- Treatment for Homeless Grants (aka Grants for the Benefit of Homeless Individuals or GBHI) (87 current grantees—77 CHAB & 10 CMHS) 25 new awards expected by September 30, 2008.
- Co-Occurring State Incentive Grant (COSIG) (19 State grantees—7 CHAB & 12 Center for Mental Health Services [CMHS]
- Co-Occurring Center for Excellence (COCE) (contract)
- Chronic Homelessness Initiative Technical Assistance (contract)
- Co-Occurring and Treatment for Homeless Technical Assistance (contract)
